October through May offer the most consistent weather (sunny, 65-75°F). June-September are warm but can see marine layer morning fog. All seasons work for Indian weddings here. Some couples prefer spring (April-May) for garden venues or fall (October-November) for clear skies and outdoor ceremonies.
Prime months (April-May, October-November) book 12+ months in advance. Off-peak months (January, September, June-August) allow 6-9 months booking. Popular venues like Santaluz and Hilton La Jolla fill quickly. We recommend starting venue search 9-12 months before your desired date.
Most do not due to fire codes and liability. Most San Diego venues offer fire alternatives we've used successfully: decorative oil lamps, candle arrangements, or projection. We work with your pandit to ensure the ritual's spiritual meaning is preserved even without actual fire.
Depends on your venue and vision. Full street Baarats are challenging in urban areas. Many San Diego couples do symbolic Baarats within the venue (parking lot to ceremony space) or modified processions (decorated vehicles, live musicians, condensed route). We can design a beautiful, meaningful Baraat that fits San Diego reality.
Typical San Diego vendor costs (separate from our planning fee): Catering $80-$150 per person (for 300+ guests), venue $5,000-$15,000, photography $3,000-$6,000, florals/decor $8,000-$20,000, DJ/band $2,000-$4,000. Total typically $50,000-$150,000 for 250-400 guests depending on choices.
